Poker Ride from Microgaming

June 27, 2009 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Uncategorized

If you like the ever popular casino game, ‘Let it Ride’, then you’ll probably love Poker Ride, Microgaming’s variation on the said game. When Let it Ride first appeared on the net, it was an instant hit. In fact, it was such a big hit that other Casinos Reviews, both online and offline, copied it, and even gave it their own twists.

So, of course, you can expect that Microgaming, one of the net’s leading casino software developers, has its own version. Not only that, Microgaming’s version is progressive, meaning that it upped the game’s excitement factor by a large deal by increasing the stakes.

The Jackpot

According to statistics, this game gives a jackpot every eight days. But that does not mean that there is always someone who wins on the eighth day. On the contrary, jackpot winnings are totally random.
Sometimes, there are winnings for four consecutive days, and sometimes nobody wins in a month. The jackpots usually amount to more than a hundred thousand dollars, which is already quite a considerable amount. It’s a really exciting game, and you’ll find yourself holding your breath in hopeful anticipation.

The Basics

Like almost every other poker variation out there, the objective you’ll want to reach in this game is to get the best five-card combination possible. You’ll have to make an initial ante and place your bets right after the first and second round. And, if you want to qualify for the Progressive Jackpot Slots, then you’ll have to place a constant bet before each hand you play. T

his part is optional, but then again, if you’re playing for the large jackpot, then I suggest you place a bet. It’s only one credit, anyway. The difference that Poker Ride, and also Let it Ride, from all the other poker variations is that you won’t be playing against other players. Instead, you’ll be playing against the house.

The house shuffles, and you will have to place your ante and your side bet, if you decide to give one, that is. When you click on Deal, the house will give you three cards, all turned up, while it will keep two, still turned down. Then, you will be asked whether you want to call or raise. If you raise, then you’ll have to give an additional wager. If you call, then you won’t have to increase the amount. Once you decide, the fourth card will be turned over. Again, you will be asked whether to raise or to call. Decide again, and the fifth card is turned over.

If you got a winning hand, then you win some money. Of course, the amount will depend on how good your cards are. A Royal Flush would instantly net you the jackpot, while a straight flush will give you 10% of it. All in all, winning in this game requires a combination of luck and skills. Play at PokerTime.

Slot Machines

June 20, 2009 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Uncategorized

Wherever you play slots, though, you should know the basic about the machines. The outside of a slot machine has standard features, but few people bother to know what goes on inside. That’s where the computerized random number generator, or RNG, resides.

Every slot machine contains an RNG, a computer program that generates random number sequences related to a reel result that is then duplicated. Higher payouts are assigned fewer numbers, while lower

Payouts are assigned more numbers. The RNG then sequences through a series of numbers, determining a result when the player triggers the spin button or slot handle. This program is also designed to determine the slot’s average payout percentage.

You have to search for the slots machines of your dreams, because most models give a low return of your investment. Before entering any casino, check outside for signs advertising slots with at least 98% payback. These are the better, looser slots.

Razz Poker Guide

June 20, 2009 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Uncategorized

Razz poker is a fun and exciting version of poker that provides a break away from the ordinary for poker enthusiasts.  Razz poker is also known as seven card stud low, and has gained a considerable amount of popularity since it was featured in the 2004 World Series of Poker tournaments.  Unlike traditional poker games, the object of razz poker is to make the worst possible traditional poker hand to win the pot.  Razz, although exciting, can be very frustrating until you learn the ropes of the game. Razz is also included in numerous mixed poker games such as H.O.R.S.E Poker.  Let’s look at Razz poker a little more closely.

Razz poker is an ante game where every player around the table must put in a forced ante bet before being dealt any cards.  Once the cards are dealt, Razz poker is played very similarly to traditional seven card stud, with a few important differences that should be noted.   Let’s look at Razz poker a little more closely.

Razz Poker Rules

As mentioned earlier, Razz plays out much like seven card stud.  However, the highest card that is in the upward facing position on Third Street must make a forced bet called “the bring in” bet to begin round action.  On succeeding rounds, the lowest hand, instead of the highest hand will act.  Should there be a tie for lowest hand (based on showing porch cards), the player who is seated clockwise from the dealer will begin the round’s action, which is different from the traditional seven card play.  Additionally, in razz poker, players who pair their door card have no option for double betting as in seven card.  The lowest traditional hand in poker wins the razz poker pot during the showdown.  Aces are counted as ones and straights and flushes are simply ignored. This makes the best possible five card Razz poker hand an ace – two – three – four and five.

Easy Way to Figure Razz Poker Hand Weakness

To figure the lowest hand in razz poker, it is simple to convert the hand into a numeric value.  For example, a hand with eight- six – five – four and three (86543) would beat a hand with eight – seven – five – four and three (87543) because it is lower in numeric value.  This method makes determining the winner in Razz poker a breeze.

Razz Poker Tips

General tips for winning big at razz poker include:

·         Be patient.  Play a tight yet well-timed game.

·         Know good razz starting hands.  For example, if you have three cards that have a face value under five, you can be assured that you have an optimal razz starting hand.

·         Watch your opponents’ upward facing cards. By being ever-observant of the cards on the table, you will not only get a feel for the strength or weakness of your opponent’s hands, but you’ll also have greater insight to whether or not the card you need is still out there.

·         Watch for live cards and dead cards in razz poker. You want to see dead cards, in fact, more so than in any other game of poker.  Why? The answer is simple – if you see pair cards to some of the cards that you are holding in your hand, you do not have to worry about drawing a pair and ruining your razz hand.  This means that the more dead cards you discover, the stronger your razz hand in most cases.

·         Have an exit strategy in razz poker.  You should have a plan for folding your hand if you have a less than stellar hand. So many razz players fall into the habit of chasing after cards that simply aren’t likely to fall into their hands.  Even those hands that started out “good” can go downhill quickly in razz – so why bother holding on to them if they are likely to cost you chips? Know when to fold.

5 Five Card Draw Tips

June 20, 2009 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Uncategorized

Five card draw is one of the most played and best loved poker games ever.  And no wonder. Five card draw is easy to learn and easy to play, and can become quite addictive!  Upping your five card draw game may be as simple as following some of the below pointers from some of the most profitable professional poker players around the world. Let’s look at how these top notch players bring home a consistent bankroll when playing five card draw.

Five Card Draw Tip Number One

Know how to open betting appropriately in five card draw.  To have a good hand for betting in five card draw, you should have (at minimum) four to a flush or straight, or a very high pair or trips (three of a kind).  Although there are instances in which you may want to stay around for the next betting round, such as when betting is light and you have a medium or high pair.  To be considered a high pair in five card draw, your pair must be at least Jacks or better.  Medium pairs are from sevens through tens.  Pairs of six or less are weak, small pairs that are only forceful if you have two pair. Check out this 5 card draw rules article for more information.

Five Card Draw Tip Number Two

If you are looking for improvement in your hand by drawing in the drawing rounds, you need something that you can draw to. For example, if you are holding a pair of Jacks keep those two cards and draw three more cards.  Doing so gives you a one in four chance of improving your hand.  You also have a better chance of improvement on a pair of Jacks or some other pair (even low pairs can become a powerful three of a kind) than you do at drawing to a straight or flush. Thus a hand that contains the cards seven – eight – nine – jack – and jack should not see the player breaking up the pair of jacks in hopes of getting a straight.  The chances of drawing to a straight, is very, very slim (although it does happen).  The smart player will keep the jacks and try to improve upon them. This is an important five card draw strategy to learn.

Five Card Draw Tip Number Three

Read your other players and the hands that they are holding without looking at their cards.  One way to do this is to observe the betting patterns of those around you.  In opening rounds of betting, if you are holding less than a pair but betting is high, you can assume that at least one of your opponents has a high pair or better (even if there are many players in the game).  A player betting heavy during the opening round of betting is a sure indicator of strength around the table.  Your chances of drawing to beat a hand that is strong from the opening round are minimal – but a well-orchestrated bluff might pay off well (or at least better than chasing the cards).

Five Card Draw Tip Number Four

Look for classic poker “tells” during your game of five card draw.  Do any of your opponents seem a bit more eager than others to get their bets made? Was there a visible and noticeable reaction on the faces of any of the other players when they got their new cards during the draw? Do any of the other players seem to squirm around, fidget, or tap their fingers as if they are anxious? These are all “tells” which are simply tell-tale signs that they either have a good hand or think that they do.  The more you play five card draw, or any poker game for that matter, the better you will be able to match these poker “tells” to the actual hands that are played.

Five Card Draw Tip Number Five

Practice your game.  The best tip that any player can receive is to continually practice their game in order to learn the different strategies that work well for them, and which fall short. If you don’t have a regular group to play with, get on the Internet and join an online poker room – there’s lots of competition and much to learn in these rooms.

Online Gambling is growing and is starting to threaten the land based casinos, especially in the United States. The US government has tried to stop online gambling in the US by passing the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) in 2006. The UIGEA does not make USA Online Gambling illegal, instead it tried to punish the financial intuitions that are processing gambling transactions. The UIGEA has failed, but it did slow the growth of online gambling in the United States.

Selecting Poker Bonuses

June 03, 2009 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Uncategorized

There are many online poker rooms that provide poker bonuses to new players which makes it hard to select a poker bonus. Some of these sign up bonuses are given to new players after they make a deposit while others are given after registering an account at the poker site. Since the last five years this has become the most important promotional tool to attract new costumers to the poker site. For most players these sign up bonuses are a good opportunity to increase their bankroll easily. It is suggested, especially for beginning players, to take advantage of this free cash offers. Online poker bonuses with a massive amount look attracting but are usually very hard to complete. Before selecting a poker bonus the player need to know a couple of factors of the poker bonus.

There are 5 factors to look at when evaluating which poker bonus a person should select.

First, there is the sign up bonus amount. Online poker bonuses often range up to one hundred percent and more of the new players deposit. Huge poker bonuses are certainly the best but also more difficult to clear. The amount differs greatly at each poker site since some online poker rooms offer just $75 while others offer poker bonuses more than $500.

The sign up bonus match is another important aspect. The sign up bonus match is a percentage of the players deposit. For example, a $150 sign up bonus such as the Mansion Poker Bonus or the
Bodog Poker Bonus with a 25% match means that if the player deposits $600 the player will receive the total $150 bonus – (25% of $600 being $150). This amount is usually credited to the players bonus account.

Another important factor are the sign up bonus requirements. The amount of raked hands that are required for each $1 in bonus money. These numbers can be found in the sign up bonus terms and conditions. For example, a $300 bonus with 8 raked hands per $1 means that 2400 raked hands are required to be accumulated before the bonus is credited to the players account. When it comes to raked hands it is also important for the player to know how tough these raked hands are accumulated at the players’ limits. Raked hands usually count when a hand is raked more than $0.50 which depends on the poker site. In general, this means that the pot has to be more than $4 in order to accumulate a raked hand.

Finally, it is important for the player to know if a sign up bonus is contributed or non-contributed. Contributed sign up bonuses are certainly more difficult to clear than non-contributed poker bonuses. Pay close attention to this sign up bonus aspect, which can be found in the sign up bonus terms and conditions, since the differences between these two types are large.

Casino und Poker in Deutschland

May 28, 2009 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Uncategorized

How To Win At Poker – Tips For The Beginner

May 27, 2009 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Uncategorized

Poker is one of the few games where a player is judged a winner based on how much money they have won, not by the number of hands that they have won. While Poker is very much a game of acquired skills and not luck, this doesn’t mean that a beginner can’t also be a winner. This is what makes poker such a popular card game.

As a beginning player, there are some tips that can be followed to increase your chances of winning at the table. For example, it is very important to know when and when not to bet. Being able to learn a few tricks of the game, watching how other players make their moves and above all, taking responsibility for your own actions as well as for your own play are important skills to learn. It is also a good idea for new poker players to keep a log, of sorts, of the games played and how they performed.

One of the most enjoyable parts of playing poker, as a beginner, is to learn the tricks of the game. Keep in mind that as a new player, you probably won’t learn anything that will fool a seasoned cardholder, but you can certainly use them against your buddies on Saturday night. It is important to note that over using these tricks and tips can quickly become a disadvantage to your game. Tricks are nice, but should be used only when they can help you win and not just because they are fun to perform during the game.

Probably the most important trick that you can ever learn when playing poker, is to know when to bet and when to hold on to your money. When a good set of cards are dealt to you, it’s exciting and you may be tempted to bet larger than what you should. It is always wise, after you make a small opening bet, to sit back and observe your fellow players, try to see what they have going on. If need be, fold, even on a good hand. If you don’t learn when to fold, you won’t win very often. It is especially important for a new player to learn when to stop upping the pot; just because you “think” you can win it. Your opponents will gladly take your money.

Observation of the other players is also an important part of winning at the game of poker. The most effective way to learn how to win at poker is to find someone who is great at the game and watch what they are doing. Watch the fact that the veterans don’t use their bag of tricks on every hand, how they bet and that it is not every time their turn comes around, they wait. Pay attention to the fact that when they feel that their hand is turning cold, they stop betting.

For the newer players, it is important to be accountable for how they are playing. It is too easy in this game to blame a loss on a string of bad luck. This way of thinking will get you into trouble faster than anything else. Be responsible, realize that poker is a skill game, that you control how you use or don’t use the cards you are given.

A great way to learn to be responsible for your play is by keeping a chart, or a log, of how you are playing your games. This doesn’t have to be anything fancy; you are the only one who will see it. However, the log should keep track of the players, the time of the game, the money involved and what you think your strengths or weakness were during that particular game. You are looking for a way to improve your poker skills for the next time you square off against these same opponents.

10 rules to observe when playing poker online

May 24, 2009 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Uncategorized

SELECT A CASINO. Rule number one. Be a member of no less than six online casinos so you can rotate and move around from casino to casino during play. Select only well~known casinos with excellent reputations for paying quickly and maintaining industry~ accepted randomizing algorithms ( more on this later ).

SELECT A BETTING LIMIT. But only if it ‘ s $1 / 2, $2 / 4 or $5 / 10 blinds. This section will discuss the research, the math, and the studies on human nature that prove conclusively that high~stake limit tables are not the place to make money. They are however an excellent place to lose large amounts of cash in a big hurry. The return on investment ( ROI ) is best at medium limit tables.

SELECT YOUR STAKE. No decision here if your smart. You must have 50 to 100 times the Big Blind. Any less and your chances of making money nose dive. More will only improve your table ‘ cred ‘ and help to intimidate weaker players.

SELECT A TABLE. Spend at least 15 minutes watching the play at each table. Review your notes if recognized players are present. Check out at least three tables before you start. Then select the loosest table. To win at Texas Hold ‘ em Poker you must play tight in loose games and play in loose games only. If all the tables are tight, run. Go back to Step 1.

SELECT A POSITION AT THE TABLE. Watch for the tightest player at the table. Pick a spot to that players left. We have dedicated an entire chapter later on to table position strategy.

TAKE NOTES ON PLAYERS. Record playing styles. Do they raise before the flop? Do they fold before the flop? What ‘ s the size of their stake? Do they react quickly or slowly when their turn
1.     comes up? What kind of cards did they play on? Everyone should take player notes at casinos like Party Poker where they offer the feature. Don~t know how to take notes? Just right~click on the avatar ( picture ) of the target player and click ~Player Notes~. That feature is there for a very good reason – use it.

TURN OFF CHAT. It ‘ s distracting and rarely valuable. If you want to chat, use MSN – but never while you ‘ re playing for money.

TURN OFF TV ‘ s, MUSIC, OTHER DISTRACTIONS. Now is not the time to catch the score on your favorite game or consume a bucket of chicken. If anyone ‘ s going to be distracted, it should be your opponents. Let them miss cues, watch their stack disappear and wonder what happened.

PLAY TIGHT. Follow the Food Chain Theory. Learn the rules. Understand the odds. Bet like a ‘ shark ‘, not a ‘ fish ‘.

PLAY FOR ONE HOUR – then take a break, regardless of whether you ‘ re winning or losing. This will keep you sharper than the other players who are hanging on for that one last win.

And there you are. Ten steps that will make you thousands, maybe a lot more over time.

Understanding the basics of Triple Draw

April 28, 2009 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Uncategorized

Triple draw is a game that has been around for ages and it is arguably the most popular of the old school poker variants. The 2-7 triple draw variant was the first lowball variant to be introduced into the mainstream of poker and ever since its introduction, the 2-7 triple draw variant has been received relatively well. Even in today’s world in which the wheel lowball variants tend to dominate in many of the modern casinos, many people still have a soft spot in their heart for the triple draw way of doing lowball. In order to help facilitate that while at the same time introducing some of you readers to a new style of poker, below you will find some of the basics of the 2-7 triple draw game.

The triple draw game is very similar to the conventional triple draw with normal poker hand rankings and that means that in a strange way, you can actually form 2-7 triple draw strategy through playing opposite the way you would in normal poker. The actual elements of 2-7 triple draw strategy are the same in terms of keeping good cards and betting behind strength, but the main difference is that the good cards are the exact opposite of what they would be within the normal game. Whereas a good card might be a King or Ace in the normal game, twos and threes are the best cards that you can have in the lowball game just as long as you don’t pair them up with each other.

With that particular difference between normal and lowball triple draw out of the way, the only real thing left to mention is that the rest of the game plays out in a manner that is quite similar to the normal triple draw game. Each player is dealt five cards face down, forming the start of their hand. After a round of betting has passed, each player is given a chance to trade in some of their cards and draw new ones are replacements. This is the first draw phase. Once the first draw phase is over, a second betting round takes place which is then followed by a second draw phase. That phase is followed by a third betting round and a third draw phase at which point the final round of betting takes place. If there are still two or more people left after the final round of betting, the showdown occurs and the lowest hand closest to 2-3-4-5-7 takes the pot.

As far as strategy is concerned, the thing to understand about triple draw is that it is all in the starting hand selection. Remember that you get three different draw phases to attain your hand, so you should be a little less discriminating about which starting hands you choose. Any hand that has two nut-low cards or three decent low cards (i.e. 9 or lower) is a good candidate and you can then go from there in order to refine your triple draw strategy.

Can a Poker Strategy Guide help your game?

April 28, 2009 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Uncategorized

No matter where you go online nowadays, it seems as though people are talking about poker strategy guides. A lot of people are claiming that reading a guide helped them with their game while there are others that claim that the poker game guides are completely useless. It is an interesting debate if you can follow one that doesn’t involve a large amount of flaming and intrinsically it is a debate in which the answer is very personal. Different people might get great uses out of poker game guides while at the same time their friend or relative finds that the poker strategy guides they have been consulting haven’t really helped them ahead. In order to wade through this intellectual problem without taking a position in the debate, let us attempt to discuss the relative merits of both positions that can be taken.

The first position is that poker strategy guides can help your game and on the face of it, this position is a relatively easy one to defend. All you need to do is find a particularly good online poker strategy guide, learn one specific point from it that improves your game and right away you then have proof that poker strategy guides can help you through your games. Things like poker bonus codes can also be placed in poker strategy guides to help you get extra money from online poker rooms and for that reason many people that have not really been helped by the strategic parts of the guide have still ended up finding a lot of good from the poker bonus codes included within. With this two-pronged approach to help from poker strategy guides, it is no wonder that there are so many people around that absolutely love extolling their virtues.

The second position is no less valid however and revolves around the idea of avoiding dependence. The argument made by these people is not necessarily that poker strategy guides are bad, but rather that they foster dependence. This means that whatever benefit you are likely to get from them is more than cancelled out by the fact that you are now dependent on that particular way of thinking. Poker is played best when it is played without mechanical thinking and the argument against poker strategy guides is that they sometimes encourage mechanical thinking.

Both of these points of view are valid and the best way to look at them is to consider what is best for your own situation as far as poker strategy guides are concerned. Is your situation such that a few pieces of advice from a poker strategy guide will be greatly helpful, or are you at a point where you really need to develop your independent critical thinking skills?  It is not always easy to answer that question, but within the answer to that question is also the answer to the question that forms the title of this blog post. So, in order to answer that question, you need to discover something about the stage of development at which your poker game currently is.

What is Rakeback?

March 25, 2009 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Uncategorized

Online poker rakeback is the easiest way to make money playing poker. While every poker room offers a first time deposit bonus, not every poker room offers rake back programs.

Rakeback is very similar to cash back programs for credit cards. Players pay in rake while they play at the tables, and then at the end of the month they receive their rakeback payment. This is typically around one third of the money they have paid into the rake. For some poker players rakeback is worth a few pennies, but for others it can be worth tens of thousands of dollars.

If you are playing online poker without rakeback you are leaving money on the table. The service is free, and only available to first time sign ups. If you fail to get rakeback at a room like Full Tilt Poker or Minted Poker you will regret it.
